Aleto

The Brief

In 2019, The Aleto Foundation asked us to create a documentary that would tell the story of its past, present and future. The documentary was to include its yearly conference, a fantastic event which sees the gathering of inspirational business leaders as well as the leaders of tomorrow who are supported by the foundation.

Production

Director Suzy Skarulis developed a look and feel that included locations across London which housed brutalist architecture. The Southmere Estate in Abbey Wood (made famous by A Clockwork Orange) and Rowley Way were notable inclusions here. Where possible, Suzy really made the most of magic hour conditions, resulting in beautiful footage.

Editing & Finishing

Working with Suzy Paradise, we wrote a script from the hours of talking heads footage that we accumulated, fitting the Past, Present, Future structure that we had designed.

As per usual, all of post was finished in-house, including music licensing, colour grading and final output, which in this case included a longer form documentary, and a shorter version for social media.

  • Capturing Emotion for Visuals

At the core of the project is two Aleto attendees who kindly shot footage on location with us. This really gave the documentary an emotional edge.

  • Gritty Locations

We utilised a number of gritty locations acros the project to help contrast the footage that we acquired at the Aleto conference.

  • Desaturated Colours

The finished film utilises a filmic, non-digital look and feel as well as a desaturated clour palette, which results in a more ‘timeless’ feel.

  • Intimate Interviews

As well as the talking head interview… we left our subjects alone in a room to answer some questions o their own with a microphone.
